As far as i can remember, the trend were like so.... (Lets start with the 80's)
1980's-Outer space(Aliens/UFO's)
Aliens were the Horror craze of this time. People loved the crazy designs and a far more believable monster flick to the unknown stars.
*This was a great time for Sci-Fi fans*
Early 1990's-Vampires
Vampires were given a huge push in the early 90's due to Tom Cruz, and Anthony Hopkins.
*I loved this time cuz it made Horror films class and sexiness.*
Late 90's- Apocalypse/End of Days
Its 1999 and the world is going to end with a Will Smith or Jeniffer Lopez music in the background and Schwarzenegger is fist fighting the Devil, and Y2K was enough hype the producers just kept dishing them out.
2000's-Zombies
I guess it makes sense, its kinda funny, the themes are more like 'The End Already Came and it brought Zombies'.
2010?
I'd like to start and hope that the next trend is Werewolves vs. Space Cowboys on the Moon.
